DISCUSSION RESOURCES

Discussion Resources for Skip the Little Boat

These resources are designed for families, teachers, librarians, and counselors who want to explore the emotional themes of Skip the Little Boat with children. All materials align with the Skip the Little Boat Discussion Question Guide, which explains how Levels 1 through 5 work.

How the Levels Work

  • Levels 1–3 include both Pre-Read Worksheets and Discussion Questions.
Use the same level before and after reading. These levels support younger readers as they build confidence, understanding, and reflection.
  • Levels 4–5 appear only in the Discussion Questions.
These deeper levels focus on symbolism, character psychology, and moral complexity, which require having finished the story.

Using the Resources

Start with the Pre-Read Worksheet that matches your group, then follow with the corresponding Discussion Questions after reading. Each level builds at its own pace, helping children explore wobbling, effort, comparison, confidence, and pride from the inside out.
